The Taksindu Region is located along the popular trek to Everest Base Camp. The scenery is breathtaking and the people who live here are lively, friendly and very hardworking. To date, the majority of our work has focused in a small corner of the Taksindu Region, as we have come to establish a working relationship with the communities and villages.
The Chhulemu School was the first Bridges Between school and has since served as a model for schools in neighboring villages. The two-room school house continues to serve as a valuable source of feedback as our organization continues to grow.
The Hewa School is on the opposite side of the valley from Chhulemu, and opened its doors in 2012.
The Ringmu School opened in 2012 with the help of a group of volunteers, including faculty and students from the University of Utah.
The women of Nunthala contacted Bridges Between with a formal request for a school in their village. They expressed a clear desire to learn accounting and computer skills to enable them to better provide for their families. Nunthala is located directly along the EBC Trekking route and provides the opportunity for women to provide for their families by operating small stores or Tea Houses where weary travelers can stop and rest.
