The Board:

Debra “Brooke” Paparo, Founder and President

Brooke is CEO of Ruby Construction Inc, a Colorado Development Corp. Brooke is also President of BREDLP Management, LLC, a New York real estate development company. Previously, she practiced as a Certified Nurse Midwife in NYC and holds a Masters of Science degree from Columbia University.

 

 

Karma Sherpa, Coordinator for Nepal Projects

Karma was born in the village of Taksindu, Solukhumbu district,  Nepal. After his schooling he moved to Kathmandu, where he worked as a Sherpa guide for numerous adventure companies. Karma also worked for the Colorado Outward Bound School in Nepal before moving to the USA. He has been living permanently in Colorado since 2001. Karma Sherpa is the founder and CEO of Sherpa Mountain Travel.

 


Katherine Demsky
,   Project Lead & Volunteer Coordinator

Katherine lives in Oregon and works in the public school system with children who have disabilities.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Anthropology with an emphasis in Archaeology and Chinese History.  She has traveled extensively throughout Asia and has a passion for the Himalayan region.  After volunteering with Bridges Between in 2014 she was hooked. Katherine now leads Bridges Between volunteers to the villages to teach and exchange fun and friendships.

 

 

Alexis Perea, Educator & Curriculum Coordinator

Alexis Perea discovered her passion for educating after spending a year teaching English to children in South Korea. After several years of traveling, she returned to Arizona and went back to school to receive a Master’s in Elementary Education in 2008. Since, she has been teaching fun-loving, energetic third graders in Tucson, Arizona. As the curriculum coordinator of Bridges Between, she plans to develop a curriculum that is relevant, proactive, and experiential. The curriculum includes literacy, computer basics, health, travel, and environmental issues.

 

Cody Gabaldon, Project Coordinator & Designer

Cody joined Bridges Between in 2012 to help coordinate the delivery of built projects in Nepal. That year, he traveled to Nepal to serve as the the project lead for the Solar Greenhouse in Chhulemu. Since then he has helped coordinate projects such as the the rocket stove installations and also assists with the overall operational tasks and media design for the organization. A strong believer in learning through experience, Cody is constantly looking for new and more meaningful ways to contribute to the world through design.

Aashik Ranpal, Information Technology

Ashik was born and raised in Palpa, Nepal. He finished his high school from, India. He moved to Kathmandu, Nepal in 2000, where he received a degree for website development from Noble Institute. After working in several different website company in Kathmandu he moved to New York City in 2005. He lived in New York for two years and moved to Colorado in 2007. He has been working at Boulder County Housing and Human Services since 2007. Aashik likes to spend his free time being outdoors and taking pictures.

 

The Advisors:

Frieda Sands, Secretary & Director of Development

A native Denverite, Frieda spent over 15 years working in various nonprofits in Denver. Her involvement includes serving as the Executive Director of the Denver Chapter of Hadassah, and Chief Development Officer at Warren Village, which provides support to low-income, single-parent families working to become self-sufficient. In addition to serving on the board of Bridges Between, Frieda is on the advisory board of Midchix, a social networking site whose mission is to Change the world … One Woman at Time. Frieda also serves as a board member of CAJE – Colorado Agency for Jewish Education. Frieda attended the University of Colorado and has two children.

Anthony Satriano, Finance

Mr. Satriano has a BA from University of Colorado at Boulder and is currently working toward a Certified Financial Planner designation (CFP). He holds General Securities Representative (Series 7), Uniform Combined State Law Exam (Series 66) and the Colorado state life and health licenses. He is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT recognizes the top 5% of financial advisors throughout the world), a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), and a member of National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Mr. Satriano was vice president of business development and senior planning advisor with Colorado Capital Bank’s private wealth management practice, where he was responsible for providing sophisticated investment management and financial advisory services to select private clients, business owners and institutions .Currently, Mr. Satriano is a member if Contango Capital Advisors.

Rick Bernheim, Engineer
Rick offers decades of engineering, technology, and entrepreneurial experience and is the President and CEO of Power Tagging Technologies, a Boulder, CO Smart Grid Technology Company focused on energy efficiency. His career spans leadership positions in start-ups to Fortune 50 corporations, and he has two granted patents and nine in-process patent applications. Rick is particularly interested in sustainable development, maximizing the use of natural processes such as solar and geothermal energy, and combining these principals with resource minimization designs. His vision and direction of our most recent construction designs implemented in Nepal over the last two years were well received by the Nepalese communities.
